I prefer this one to pine alignment 1, I'm not quite sure why, but this seems a little more dynamic.

Yes, think you could be right - maybe to do with the greater weight (visual & actual) of the trees on the left: these huge plants, dark & still & silent as they are, always remind me of a kind of gigantic natural barcode, framed against that clear cold sky, holding some sort of unfathomable code between them as they stand in line keeping the secret of their sequence... But I suspect I'm getting a tad pretentious here!

the weight gives the eye something to focus on.
